How do I tell whether a filter is clogged or worn out?
Wash it and then stretch a corner gently. A clogged element comes back springy and resilient — it goes back into service. A worn element sheds strands, crumbles at the edge, or has lost its spring, and it must be replaced even if it now looks clean. This distinction matters more around Dimapur than almost anywhere, because crushed stone dust abrades the lattice: elements there reach the end of their mechanical life while still appearing serviceable, and a shedding filter puts debris downstream, which is worse than none.
